The Finance Team provides all the accounting services for the Diocese, including the record keeping of all Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) financial activities, the management of diocesan cash and investment assets, the monitoring of diocesan income and expenditure, the preparation of various management accounts and the completion of statutory annual financial statements for the DBF.
We also advise auditors and independent examiners on their roles and responsibilities, in respect of relevant legislation, and offer parishes a point of guidance and assistance, especially in respect of accounting regulations and methods of book-keeping. In addition, the team provides regular training events and information for parish treasurers.
We act as a collection agency and point of reference in respect of parish clergy and others paid through the Church Commissioners.
Another of the Team’s tasks is to collect data for use by the Diocese for both statistical and financial purposes.
