Are you an experienced senior leader in primary or secondary education with proven ability to instigate and lead change?


We have an exciting opportunity to join the Education team as a Deputy Director of Education.  This role will provide strategic leadership for the development of standards and Christian Distinctiveness in Church of England Schools.  You will provide support and advise our church schools on a range of topics including, inspection frameworks, admissions arrangements and governing bodies, as well as providing training oversight.

Our Church schools and academies are distinctive, fully inclusive and welcoming of diverse faiths, cultures and ethnicities serving the communities in the four local authorities of Kent, Medway, and the London boroughs of Bromley and Bexley.

There are 89 Church schools and academies within the Diocesan family of Church schools providing a Christian education through the state sector to some 27,000 children aged from 4 to 19.

Our Church schools and academies are diverse from small to large, rural to urban and are reflective of the communities they serve.  The common feature is one of providing a distinctive and nurturing education to its pupils and serving the needs of young people and their families in the community as a whole.

As Deputy Director of Education, you will provide support, advice, guidance, training and challenge to Church of England Schools and Academies in all key stages from Early Years through to Year 13.

 


More about you


•    Educated to degree level with the ability to think theologically
•    Experience as a senior school leader
•    Excellent knowledge of the requirements of Ofsted and SIAMS inspection framework
•    Proven experience in delivery of accurate, high quality work and reports to deadlines and to required standards
•    Strong project management and administrative skills with the ability to remain motivated under pressure
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for the post holder to be a communicant member of the Church of England, or of a Church in communion therewith or of a member Church of the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland or of Churches Together in England, or of a member Church of the Evangelical Alliance.
