Resources for work with children and young people

We are committed to ensuring that children and young people are offered life-enhancing encounters with Jesus Christ, and can participate as equal partners in the life of the Church.

We have collated together a range of resources, links to agencies, and activities, aimed at helping you nurture the faith and spirituality of the younger generations and their families, in your congregations.

On this page we cover:

Equipment available to hire
Prayer labyrinth - Breathe
Godly Play
How to guides
Resources to support families with their faith at home
Children and Young People Fund

Equipment and resources available to hire

The Children and Young People Team has a number of pieces of equipment that can be borrowed to facilitate engagement with young people. Items include:

  • a giant Connect Four game,
  • a Giant Jenga (tumble tower),
  • a Karaoke machine,
  • Wii,
  • circus toys; and,
  • even a tepee tent!

The Team also has a number of books on Children and Youth Ministry, art and craft, festivals, clubs and projects, prayer and liturgy, drama and some DVD's to name but a few.

There is a minimal charge to borrow these. We also have three resource centres situated in Erith, Farnborough and Tonbridge, who hold most of the equipment available to hire.

For more details, to check availability, and to receive a hire form, please contact Sarah Cabella.

Prayer Labyrinth - Breath

This interactive labyrinth is aimed mostly at Year 6 children upwards.  It consists of up to 30 iPods which are already pre-loaded and children/adults move around the labyrinth as instructed on the iPod.  This is also suitable for adults to use.

Breathe is available for parishes and schools to borrow.  Please contact Sarah Cabella sarah.cabella@rochester.anglican.org.

Godly Play

Godly Play is a Christian movement centred on childhood spirituality The main context for Godly Play is spiritual guidance or mentoring of small groups of children in churches by adults. But people are experimenting with its use in other contexts.

If you already use Godly Play in your ministry with children and would be interested in participating in a Godly Play network for practitioners in Kent, please contact the Children and Young People team.

We also have some Godly Play boxes that churches and individuals may borrow. Please contact Sarah Cabella for more details.

How to Guides

We have created a number of 'How to guides' to help support your work with the younger people in your congregations:

  1. Helping children with trauma and grief (please contact the CYP Team for this paper)
  2. Christmas and Advent

Please contact the Children and Young People team for more information.

Children and Young People Fund

The Children and Young People (CYP) Fund aims to support ideas that will give children and young people lifelong encounters with Jesus; grants can fund anything from resources and trips, to food and practical supplies

The Fund's ambition is to provide a base from which small projects and ministry can build up and be linked to the Diocesan Called Together vision. The fund has been made possible through the significant financial support of Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust.

Find out more about the Fund and how to apply on our dedicated Children and Young People Fund page.
