Services for those living with Dementia go online

First published on: 11th November 2020

The Hope Service, is a monthly service designed by Anna Chaplains in Rochester Diocese especially for people who live with dementia and their carers.

Anna Chaplaincy is an ecumenical, community-based ministry to older people.  It is named after the faithful older woman, Anna, who appears with Simeon in Luke’s Gospel.

Before lockdown, two services a month were being offered in a parish setting: one at St James, Tunbridge Wells and one at All Saints, Langton Green. Both were attended by a core group of people who found them very helpful.

During the pandemic, the team have had to adapt, says Judi Hammill, curate at St James, Tunbrdge Wells:

"Since lockdown we have not been able to meet in person, so instead we put together a monthly online service which normally goes out on the first Wednesday of the month

"There is a team of us who put the services together and we are all Anna Chaplains. We are keen to publicise them as widely as possible so that others can use them. We are also very happy to have others on the organising team if they would like to contribute."

A special service has been produced for Remembrance as well. Please view it here

Anyone who would like to be involved with the services or to learn out more about them should contact Judi Hammill at: curatestjames@gmail.com
