We are very sorry to share the sad news of the death of The Reverend Cyril Showers, Priest in Charge at St Botolphs and St Marks Northfleet.

He died peacefully on the evening of Thursday 27 October following a period of illness.

In sharing this news, the Venerable Andy Wooding Jones, Archdeacon of Rochester offers this tribute:

“It was a privilege to visit Cyril a few times over the last few weeks and witness his hope and faith, but also his love and care for Dennishia and Delia and all who knew and valued him.

“Cyril was born and grew up in Sierra Leone and worked as a teacher there and in London. He trained for ordained ministry at SEITE and served as curate at St Faiths, North Dulwich.

“He was appointed as Associate Priest in Northfleet and Rosherville in 2019, before becoming Priest-in-Charge.

“Cyril was a man of deep faith, a person of prayer and a pastor who was greatly loved by the people of Northfleet and Rosherville. I know Cyril's ministry was also really appreciated by the staff and pupils of the two Church Schools in Northfleet and Rosherville.

“We pray for Dennishia and Delia, his wider family and friends around the world, and for the church and wider communities at St Mark's and St Botolph's as they mourn a devoted priest."
