Pupil cuts hair for charity

Many children may have been taken to the hairdressers over the holidays in order to have a hair cut, all in time to return to school looking smart and tidy.

But one pupil at Bishop Chavasse Church of England Primary has gone the extra mile - or rather the extra 11 inches - all in the name of charity.

Jessica, a Year 1 pupil decided to cut her long hair, after being sponsored over half term to donate over 11 inches of hair to The Little Princess Trust.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people up to the age of 24 that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers. We receive no formal funding. Please help to raise money for us so that we can help more families.

So far, Jessica has raised over £400 in sponsorship.

Headteacher Donna Weeks said: "Our Bishop Chavasse children never fail to amaze me with their compassion towards others. We are so proud of Jessica and her wonderful generosity to children less fortunate than herself."
