Bishop Jonathan is delighted to announce that Mandy Holloway has accepted the invitation to be the next Warden of Lay Ministry.
In announcing the appointment he said:
'Our diocese has always had an excellent reputation for its nurturing and valuing of lay ministry and in being creative in how the gifts and talents of lay people are used to help grow God’s Kingdom.
'Mandy’s role is therefore a vital one, as she will help promote, develop and resource lay ministry in line with the diocese’s Called Together vision which seeks to see everyone’s calling flourish and be valued.'
Mandy brings to the role a wealth of experience having been a member of St Mary Greenhithe for 33 years, serving in many capacities including in Junior Church, leading Toddler group and on the PCC.
Alongside this, she worked for 13 years in a bank and for 19 years as a registered childminder before becoming a Licensed Lay Minister 6 years ago, church administrator at Swanscombe for two years and Deputy Warden for a year.
She has also been part of a small team of two LLMs and two Churchwardens leading the church through Interregnum during the Covid pandemic.
Reflecting on her appointment, Mandy says:
"I am pleased, if somewhat daunted, to be offered the position and excited to discover where God is leading his people in Rochester Diocese.
"To be able to encourage and support God’s people as they discover his calling for them is a privilege and a joy. I am looking forward to getting to know as many of you as possible as we journey and seek his kingdom together.”
Mandy will take up her part-time post on Monday 7 October.
Please pray for Mandy as she takes up her role and begins this new chapter of her ministry.
