Farewell as Caroline leaves Community Engagement role

After 7 years in the role, Caroline Clarke, Community Engagement and Social Action Team Lead (CESA), is leaving her role with the Diocese.

Caroline is heading off to take a step of faith and test a call to the North East of the country.

At a recent meeting of the Bishop's Leadership Team, Bishop James took the opportunity to thank Caroline for her energy, dedication and commitment to supporting parishes with their outreach into the community, and her passion for social justice.

He presented her with a picture of Rochester Cathedral as a sign of the Diocese's gratitude and best wishes.

Bishop Simon has also paid tribute, saying:

"Caroline’s love of Jesus, her grasp of what the Church’s community engagement can look like and her ability to network with agencies to relieve need has been a wonderful gift to us and a base from which we can bless our communities even more deeply.

"We are praying for her, as she takes this step of faith, that God would go before her and, once again, use her imagination and desire for the Gospel."

Caroline’s last day with the Diocese will be 9 June.

In the interim, a network of ambassadors and champions Caroline has built-up will help continue to raise awareness of issues such as modern slavery and domestic abuse.

Parishes should contact keith.berry@rochester.anglican.org for support with new projects, and particular advice around  Places of Welcome and community hubs.
