Congratulations to the Rev Penny Stephens whose debut ‘cosy crime’ novel, Till Death Us Do Part, has just been published.
As a retired vicar in the Diocese of Rochester, and Honorary Canon of the Cathedral, Penny is combining covering services across a range of churches with her new crime-writing career.
“Although I have been an avid crime fiction fan for years,” says Penny, “becoming a writer is a new adventure I am thoroughly enjoying.”
Published by Quercus, the book’s central character is the Reverend Clare Brakespear.
With a young family to wrangle, a parish to manage and a particularly excitable Golden Retriever by her side, life is never dull.
But when she attends a wedding where one of the guests is fatally stabbed with a cake knife, even Clare admits that she might have been given too much to handle this time.
As Clare becomes convinced the police have focused-in on the wrong person, she decides to take matters into her own hands, and soon becomes embroiled in a complex web of family secrets and deceptions.

At the book’s launch event held over the summer in Tonbridge, those present had the chance to hear Penny interviewed about her novel, as well as secure themselves a signed copy.
And with Penny already working on the second of Reverend Clare’s adventures, her avid readers hopefully won’t have too long to wait for the next exciting instalment.
** Till death us do part is now available in hardback, as well as an eBook and Audiobook. Find out more at: https://revpennystephens.com/
