The purpose of this workstream
To strengthen those parishes who are facing financial and missional challenge, to improve both spiritual life and financial sustainability through targeted support.
The money awarded for this work
The National Church’s Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board (SMMIB) has awarded £610k for this area of work.
What this will enable
- A Health and Vitality process, where 45 parishes, over 9 years, receive dedicated support to help then move from a place of fragility to one of flourishing.
- Local insight of the existing Archdeaconry Mission and Pastoral Working Groups used to help identify how resource - either already available through the diocesan support teams or developed through workstreams - might be most helpfully directed to support local parishes.
- A Revitalise Churches Support Adviser and Finance Adviser to provide support to parishes
The difference it will make
-
Congregations engaged in renewal and volunteer growth.
-
At least 15 benefices revitalised, with mission and financial plans in place
-
Improved sustainability leading to a reduction in the diocesan subsidy needed, freeing up resource across the area of the diocese
