To grow and sustain confident, mission-focused leaders - lay and ordained - ensuring wellbeing, strengthened pathways to ministry, and collaborative leadership across the Diocese.

The National Church's Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board (SMMIB) has awarded £1.8m for this area of work
What it will enable
- A reviewed and reformed training and formation offer for all God’s people
Including licensed lay ministers, lay people who hold paid and volunteer roles within their church, and clergy
- Development of Learning Communities for different role holders
Including clergy, licensed lay ministers, and church role holders
- A Ministry Experience Scheme for younger leaders
- A structured programme of wellbeing support called Cascade
Co-produced with clergy, lay leaders and diocesan and cathedral staff, it will run in partnership with the St Benedict’s Centre in West Malling
- Targeted missional support for specific contexts
Such as new housing, estates, rural, Anglo-Catholic.
The difference it will make locally
- Parishes and deaneries enriched by well trained and supported leaders who are energised and equipped to help people grow in their faith, and grow sustainable, flourishing churches.
- Clergy, lay leaders and lay people with increased confidence, improved skills and better wellbeing, meaning they feel valued and fulfilled.
- All God’s people will have a closer relationship with God and able to access clear pathways into lay and ordained ministry, leadership, discipleship, and peer learning networks.
