During Great Big Green Week in June, as well as encouraging churches to complete their Energy Footprint Tool, colleagues in the Diocesan Office took part too!
Each day, Kayleigh Ward, Net Zero Adviser for the Diocese, shared a short email offering suggestions and tips to encourage and inspire colleagues to make small changes to improve their carbon footprint, for themselves, others, and the wider community.
Alongside this, colleagues were invited to sign up to watch a showing of the People’s Emergency Briefing film which will take place in the office in a few weeks.
Kayleigh was also delighted to share the news that, thanks to the steps already being undertaken within the office – fairtrade products, sustainable paper choices, recycling and composting to a name a few – the Diocesan Office had achieved a Bronze Eco Church Award!
Kayleigh says, “This is a fantastic achievement and I am so grateful for all that colleagues do at work - and in their own lives – to support climate care.
"As diocesan support teams, we know that alongside parishes, we have just as much a part to play in reaching The Church of England's ambitions around Net Zero Carbon and creation care, and if we are asking busy parishes to think about their sustainability, then so should we.
“I hope this achievement encourages colleagues and churches to keep going with their Eco Church journeys, and as a Net Zero Team we’re here to help!”
