The Mpwapwa and Rochester Diocesan link was formed in 2005, during a visit led by Rev Canon David Kitley to both Mpwapwa and Kondoa Dioceses.

The Diocese is part of the Anglican Church of Tanzania (ACT) and a member of the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT).

The current Bishop is the Rt Rev Jacob Chimeledya, who also served as Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Tanzania from 20013-May 2018.  His wife, Mwezwa, is President of the Mothers’ Union in the Diocese.

Many of the linked parishes and schools visit Mpwapwa annually.  Both Diocesan Bishops are committed to the link, and visit each other’s Dioceses.  Each link develops in a unique way.  All these links are overseen by the Mpwapwa Companion Diocese Group.
