Spectacular mobiles by our schools in Rochester Cathedral

This is the fourth year that the Diocesan Board of Education has worked with the Rochester Cathedral Education team and vergers to enhance the Cathedral for the Christmas season with some spectacular mobiles designed by 12 of our Church schools.

We wrote to our schools asking for volunteers to make the hoops and this event is so popular the 12 spaces were filled very quickly. The 12 schools were provided with a 3 foot hoop and asked to choose a focus within the broader theme of the Nativity account.

The designs have included Angels, Shepherds and sheep, the Holy Family with stable scene and many more. The figures and objects could be made out of any material which is light enough to create the mobile for example, card, textiles, collage etc. Each school was asked to write a paragraph about their design describing how it was made and an explanation of how it conveys the message of Christmas.  Booklets are available at the welcome desk to help visitors identify each school and their mobile.

The mobiles were hung on the 23rd November and will remain hanging until 15th January 2018.
