New Kent Emergency Chaplains Service

First published on: 5th February 2020

The old county Critical Incident Chaplaincy Scheme, like many others nationwide, has proved rather unfit for purpose since the Grenfell fire.

Churches are no longer being asked to support incidents in the county and so a new service is being launched to recruit and train chaplains in every part of Kent.

Although structured geographically around Anglican Deaneries the service is wholly Ecumenical.

To get things off the ground we need a few volunteers to help with administration, no pastoral or chaplaincy skills needed:

  1.  An Administrator for record keeping - (needs access to email and basic tools like Excel, willing to do an hour or so when needed)
  2.  Three or four  ‘watch keepers’ to have the call-out phone for (say) a week at a time and able to call the lead chaplains and local chaplains in the event of an activation.

If you think this might be something you, or someone you know might do, please get in touch with Shuna, David or Peter at KECS2019@gmail.com
