Football style welcome for new ministry team

Congregations across the Northfleet Area of Ministry and Mission came together for a special service at the Kuflink Stadium.

Home to Ebbsfleet United Football Club, it provided the perfect, if novel, venue in which to celebrate and launch the area's new Interim Ministry team.

The Revd Canon Gary Colville was appointed as Interim Priest-in-Charge and The Revd Cyril Showers as Associate Priest to join Sister Gill Martin who arrived in the area in June 2017.

When curate, The Revd Michael Payne moved on to be Vicar of St Aidan’s, Gravesend and The Revd Lawrence Smith retired at the end of November 2017, Bishop James offered the Northfleet Churches Interim Ministry in order to help evaluate what the next stage of ministry would look like for the parishes of Northfleet & Rosherville and Perry Street.

The stadium provided a very comfortable setting in which Archdeacon Andy Wooding Jones and Area Dean Nigel Bourne could launch the new Interim Ministry Team.

It was also a great opportunity to celebrate  and give thanks for the churchwardens and Licenced Lay Ministers, together with family and friends.
