Following the announcement of The Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin as the new Bishop of Dover, Bishop James Langstaff said:

“I greatly welcome today’s announcement that The Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin is to be the new Bishop of Dover.

"The Dioceses of Canterbury and Rochester together serve the County of Kent, and I particularly look forward to working with bishop-designate Rose as we further develop our shared ministry in relation to the people and communities of the county.

"The people of the Rochester Diocese will be praying for her as she prepares to be ordained as a bishop and to take on this new responsibility.

“As chair of the Church of England’s national initiative (known as ‘Turning up the Volume’) to raise the number of clergy of BAME heritage in senior posts, I am also hugely encouraged by this appointment.

"Bishop-designate Rose’s appointment gives to our church another bishop of BAME heritage, thus enriching and strengthening our missionary presence within our society.”
