A Collect for Peace

After the shocking events of Wednesday afternoon, we pray for all those caught up in the attack on Westminster Bridge.
We hold in our prayers especially the family and friends of PC Keith Palmer, Aysha Frade and Kurt Cochran and of Khalid Masood.
We give thanks at all times for the brave service given by the police and other emergency services, but especially now, under such times of stress, we pray for their protection and peace.

Bishop James also thanks Westminster Abbey for their support during the attack.

GOD of love, turn our hearts to your ways; and give us peace. Amen.

‘You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.” But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous…”  Matthew 5.43-45
