Ministry & Training - Readers
Readers are men and women of all ages, drawn from all walks of life, who have experienced the grace of God in their lives, and whose gifts have been recognised by clergy and congregation in their local parish.

All have had their call to serve God tested through a process of selection, followed by a period of training in their spare time. They have been admitted to the office of a Reader and licensed to a parish, or sometimes to a chaplaincy or school by the bishop.

Depending on their personal gifts and individual circumstances, and on the needs of the parish, Readers primarily exercise a preaching, teaching and liturgical ministry, together with pastoral work and other forms of lay leadership.
