The Diocese of Rochester is participating in the Weddings Project – a national Church initiative to enhance our ministry with couples getting married in churches.

Concern about the decline in numbers of Church weddings led the Archbishops’ Council to commission some research, which found that those who have a Church wedding are very positive about the experience but often surprised by the lack of follow up by the Church.

The Weddings Project has developed literature and a web-based wedding planner which can help couples establish more lasting connections with the Church where they get married. For more information visit: www.yourchurchwedding.org/project

Wedding Fairs
A number of deaneries book stalls at local wedding fairs to raise awareness of the local churches. Many couples do not know that they are eligible for a Church wedding.
